When the torque remains unchanged, the magnetic current decreases and the speed drops more severely. Adjusting the magnetic current can change the speed and use it as a continuously variable transmission, which is its advantage. The main disadvantage of this clutch is that the eddy current in the rotor generates heat, which is proportional to the speed difference. The efficiency is very low at low speed, and the efficiency value is mainly the ratio of the driven shaft speed, that is, = n2/n1.
